Choose a monitor that fits your desk
Compare screen size, resolution, refresh rate, and connections before paying for more pixels.
Start with your desk and your daily work
Measure the space available for the screen and stand, then think about what fills your day. Reading documents calls for comfortable text. Games make motion handling more relevant. Photo work adds color requirements. The biggest screen in your budget is not automatically the most comfortable one.
Size and resolution work together
A larger screen spreads the same number of pixels over more space. A 27-inch Full HD monitor can suit a tight budget, but text will look less fine than on a 27-inch QHD or 4K screen. Higher resolution can also require scaling to keep menus readable.
| Your priority | Worth comparing | Check before buying |
|---|---|---|
| A small, affordable desk | About 24 inches, Full HD (1920 × 1080) | Stand footprint and text size at your viewing distance |
| Documents and multiple windows | 27 inches, QHD (2560 × 1440) or 4K (3840 × 2160) | Comfortable scaling and your computer’s output support |
| Fast games | A refresh rate above 60 Hz at your chosen resolution | Game performance, adaptive sync, and supported input modes |
Follow the whole connection
Your computer, dock, cable, and monitor need to support the resolution and refresh rate you want. A USB-C connector alone does not promise video output or laptop charging. Check for supported video modes, charging wattage, and the capabilities of the supplied cable. VESA explains how DisplayPort over USB-C can carry video, data, and power when the equipment supports them.
Spend on the feature you will notice
For long document sessions, a height-adjustable stand may be worth more to you than a higher refresh rate. For a one-cable laptop desk, compare USB-C charging against the cost of a separate dock. For color-sensitive work, check measured color accuracy and calibration options; an HDR label alone does not answer those questions.
Before checkout, write down four things: your preferred size, target resolution, available computer port, and the stand adjustment you need. Use that list to compare exact model numbers.
